Boy Arabic origin Turkī
“Turkish”, a relational adjective formed on the name of the Turkic people
Meaning of the name Turki
Turki is the relational adjective (nisba) formed on Turk, the name of the Turkic people, itself of Turkic origin: it means “Turkish, of Turkish origin”. It is nevertheless a typically Arabic name, borne mostly in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf, especially in the Saudi royal family: Turki ibn ʿAbd Allah retook Riyadh in 1824 and founded the second Saudi state. Why the name spread in Najd is not clearly known; it is hardly ever given in Turkey.
