Boy Arabic origin Rākān
Najdi name linked to the root r-k-n, “to lean firmly”: “steady, one to rely on”
Rakan is a traditional name of Najd, borne notably by Rakan ibn Hithlayn, a 19th-century knight and poet. It is connected to the root r-k-n of support and pillar (rukn), hence the sense “steady, firm, someone one can rely on”. It is now a very popular name in Saudi Arabia and the Gulf.
The name Rakan does not appear as such in the Quran, but its root (ر ك ن) occurs 4 times. Examples:
He said, "If only I had against you some power or could take refuge in a strong support."
And do not incline toward those who do wrong, lest you be touched by the Fire, and you would not have other than Allāh any protectors; then you would not be helped.
And if We had not strengthened you, you would have almost inclined to them a little.
