سِرَاج
Boy Arabic origin Sirāj
Name of the Prophet ﷺIn the Quran“The lamp”, that which gives light
The word as it is recited in the Quran: Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, Al-Ahzab 33:46.
The Quran says to the Prophet ﷺ: “O Prophet, We have sent you as a witness, a bearer of good news and a warner, calling to Allah by His permission, and an illuminating lamp (sirajan muniran)” (33:45-46). The word occurs four times, for the Prophet ﷺ and for the sun (71:16, 78:13, 25:61).
Siraj means a lamp, the light that illuminates darkness; the Quran uses it for the sun, “a blazing lamp”. The name is given alone or in compounds: Siraj al-Din, “lamp of the religion”, a scholarly title. It recalls above all one of the Quranic descriptions of the Prophet ﷺ, al-Siraj al-Munir, “the illuminating lamp”.
Yes: the word Siraj appears in the Quran 4 times, in 4 surahs.
