One night, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed Qiyām while reciting a single verse from the Qur'an

‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported: One night, the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) performed Qiyām while reciting a single verse from the Qur'an (over and over again).

قَامَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم بِآيَةٍ مِنَ الْقُرْآنِ لَيْلَةً ‏

Narrated by Ā’ishah + 1 other version Explained

"I asked Aishah how the recitation of the Prophet (S) was at night. [Would he recite silently o audibly?] So she said: 'He would do both of those. Sometimes he was silent with his recitation and sometimes it was audible.' So I said: 'All praise is due to Allah, the One who made the matter broad.'"

كُلُّ ذَلِكَ قَدْ كَانَ يَفْعَلُ رُبَّمَا أَسَرَّ بِالْقِرَاءَةِ وَرُبَّمَا جَهَرَ ‏.‏

Narrated by Ā’ishah

The Prophet (S) said: "The most virtuous prayer of yours is in your homes, except for the obligatory."

"‏ أَفْضَلُ صَلاَتِكُمْ فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ إِلاَّ الْمَكْتُوبَةَ ‏"

Narrated by Zayd ibn Thābit

The Prophet (S) said: "Offer Salat in your homes and do not turn them into graves."

"‏ صَلُّوا فِي بُيُوتِكُمْ وَلاَ تَتَّخِذُوهَا قُبُورًا ‏"
