حَدَّثَنَا مَحْمُودُ بْنُ غَيْلاَنَ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو دَاوُدَ، قَالَ أَنْبَأَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عَمْرَو بْنَ مَيْمُونٍ، يُحَدِّثُ يَقُولُ كُنَّا وُقُوفًا بِجَمْعٍ فَقَالَ عُمَرُ بْنُ الْخَطَّابِ إِنَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَانُوا لاَ يُفِيضُونَ حَتَّى تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ وَكَانُوا يَقُولُونَ أَشْرِقْ ثَبِيرُ ‏.‏ وَإِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم خَالَفَهُمْ ‏.‏

فَأَفَاضَ عُمَرُ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ ‏

Amr bin Maimun narrated:

"We were halted at Jama when Umar bin Al-Khattab said: 'The idolaters would not depart until the sun had risen and they would say: "Let the sun shine on Thabir" and indeed the Messenger of Allah contradicted them.' So Umar departed before the rising of the sun."

Al-Mubarakfuri — Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi

قَوْلُهُ : ( كُنَّا وُقُوفًا ) جَمْعُ وَاقِفٍ ( بِجَمْعٍ ) أَيْ بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ ( إِنَّ الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَانُوا لَا يُفِيضُونَ ) أَيْ مِنْ جَمْعٍ ( أَشْرِقْ ) بِفَتْحِ أَوَّلِهِ فِعْلُ أَمْرٍ مِنْ الْإِشْرَاقِ أَيْ اُدْخُلْ فِي الشُّرُوقِ وَالْمَشْهُورُ أَنَّ الْمَعْنَى لِتَطْلُعَ عَلَيْك الشَّمْسُ ( ثَبِيرٌ ) بِفَتْحِ الْمُثَلَّثَةِ وَكَسْرِ الْمُوَحَّدَةِ جَبَلٌ مَعْرُوفٌ هُنَاكَ وَهُوَ عَلَى يَسَارِ الذَّاهِبِ إِلَى مِنًى وَهُوَ أَعْظَمُ جِبَالِ مَكَّةَ عُرِفَ بِرَجُلٍ مِنْ هُذَيْلٍ اِسْمُهُ ثَبِيرٌ دُفِنَ فِيهِ , وَالْحَدِيثُ فِيهِ مَشْرُوعِيَّةُ الدَّفْعِ مِنْ الْمَوْقِفِ بِالْمُزْدَلِفَةِ قَبْلَ طُلُوعِ الشَّمْسِ عِنْدَ الْإِسْفَارِ , وَقَدْ نَقَلَ الطَّبَرِيُّ الْإِجْمَاعَ عَلَى أَنَ…

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 3838

The pagans used not to leave Jam' (i.e. Muzdalifa) till the sun had risen on Thabir mountain. The Prophet contradicted them by leaving (Muzdalifa) before the sun rose.

الْمُشْرِكِينَ كَانُوا لاَ يُفِيضُونَ مِنْ جَمْعٍ حَتَّى تَشْرُقَ الشَّمْسُ عَلَى ثَبِيرٍ، فَخَالَفَهُمُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَأَفَاضَ قَبْلَ أَنْ تَطْلُعَ الشَّمْسُ‏.‏

قَالَتْ قُرَيْشٌ نَحْنُ قَوَاطِنُ الْبَيْتِ لاَ نُجَاوِزُ الْحَرَمَ ‏.‏ فَقَالَ اللَّهُ عَزَّ وَجَلَّ ‏‏{ثُمَّ أَفِيضُوا مِنْ حَيْثُ أَفَاضَ النَّاسُ }‏ ‏.‏

"The Quraish and those who followed their religion - and they were called Al-Hums - would stand at Al-Muzdalifah, and they would say: 'We are the people of Allah.' The others would stand at Arafat, so Allah the Mighty and Sublime revealed: Then depart from where the people depart."
