Riyad as-Salihin 1799

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) saw me wearing two clothes dyed in saffron. whereupon he said: These are the clothes (usually worn by) the non-believers, so do not wear them.

هَذِهِ مِنْ ثِيَابِ الْكُفَّارِ فَلاَ تَلْبَسْهَا ‏"

Narrated by Abdullah ibn Amr

This hadith has been reported on the authority of Yahya b. Abu Kathir with the same chain of trarnmitteis.

The Prophet (ﷺ) saw me in two clothes dyed in safflower (a red dye), whereupon he said: "Did your mother order you to do this?" [Reported by Muslim].

"أُمُّكَ أَمَرَتْكَ بِهَذَا?"

‘Abdallah b. ‘Amr b. al-‘As told that when God's messenger saw him wearing two garments dyed with saffron he said, “These are the garments worn by infidels ; do not wear them.” A version says that when he suggested washing them he replied, “No, burn them.” Muslim transmitted it.

Allah's Apostle (ﷺ) saw me in two clothes dyed in saffron, whereupon he said: Has your mother ordered you to do so? And I said: I will wash them. He said: But burn them.

عَلَىَّ ثَوْبَيْنِ مُعَصْفَرَيْنِ فَقَالَ ‏"‏ أَأُمُّكَ أَمَرَتْكَ بِهَذَا ‏"‏ ‏.‏ قُلْتُ أَغْسِلُهُمَا ‏.‏ قَالَ ‏"‏ بَلْ أَحْرِقْهُمَا ‏"

The Messenger of Allah [SAW] saw him wearing two garments dyed with safflower and he said: "This is the clothing of disbelievers; do not wear it."

He came to the Prophet [SAW] wearing two garments dyed with safflower. The Prophet [SAW] got angry and said: "Go and take them off." He said: "Where should I throw them, O Messenger of Allah?" He said: "In the fire."
