Narrator:Ibn ‘Abbās

أَخْبَرَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ عَمْرٍو، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَخْطُبُ وَهُوَ يَقُولُ ‏

"‏ السَّرَاوِيلُ لِمَنْ لاَ يَجِدُ الإِزَارَ وَالْخُفَّيْنِ لِمَنْ لاَ يَجِدُ النَّعْلَيْنِ ‏"‏ ‏.‏ لِلْمُحْرِمِ ‏.‏

It was narrated that Ibn 'Abbas said; "I heard the Prophet delivering a khutbah and he said:

'Pants (are allowed) for one who cannot find an Izar, and Khuffs for one who cannot find sandals to wear in Ihram.;;

Reported by An-Nasa’i (No. 2671) and Abu Dawud (No. 1829).

قَوْله ( السَّرَاوِيل لِمَنْ لَا يَجِد إِزَارًا إِلَخْ ) أَخَذَ بِإِطْلَاقِهِ أَحْمَد وَهُوَ أَرْفَق وَحَمَلَ الْجُمْهُور هَذَا الْحَدِيث عَلَى حَدِيث اِبْن عُمْر فَقَيَّدُوهُ بِالْقَطْعِ حَمْلًا لِلْمُطْلَقِ عَلَى الْمُقَيَّد وَأَجَابَ أَحْمَد بِأَنَّ حَدِيث اِبْن عُمْر كَانَ قَبْل هَذَا الْإِطْلَاق وَقَدْ يُقَال قَدْ جَاءَ التَّقْيِيد فِي رِوَايَات اِبْن عَبَّاس فِي الْخُفّ كَمَا سَيَجِيءُ فِي الْكِتَاب نَعَمْ التَّقْيِيد فِي الْإِزَار مَا جَاءَ فِي شَيْء مِنْ الْأَحَادِيث لَا فِي حَدِيث اِبْن عُمْر وَلَا فِي حَدِيث اِبْن عَبَّاس فَلِيُتَأَمَّل وَبِالْجُمْلَةِ فَالْمَحِلّ مَحِلّ كَلَام وَأَمَّا قَوْله وَالْخُفَّيْنِ فَالظَّاهِر وَالْخُفَّانِ لِكَوْنِهِ مُبْتَدَأ إِلَّا أَنْ يُقَال كَانَ فِ…

I heard the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) delivering a sermon at ‘Arafāt, in which he said: Whoever does not find slippers or sandals (Na‘l) may wear leather socks (Khuff), and whoever does not find a waist sheet (Izār) may wear pants (Sirwāl).
