حَدَّثَنِي عَنْ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ هِشَامِ بْنِ عُرْوَةَ، عَنْ فَاطِمَةَ بِنْتِ الْمُنْذِرِ، أَنَّ أَسْمَاءَ بِنْتَ أَبِي بَكْرٍ، كَانَتْ إِذَا أُتِيَتْ بِالْمَرْأَةِ وَقَدْ حُمَّتْ تَدْعُو لَهَا أَخَذَتِ الْمَاءَ فَصَبَّتْهُ بَيْنَهَا وَبَيْنَ جَيْبِهَا وَقَالَتْ إِنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ يَأْمُرُنَا أَنْ نُبْرِدَهَا بِالْمَاءِ ‏.‏

Yahya related to me from Malik from Hisham ibn Urwa from Fatima bint al-Mundhir that whenever a woman who had a fever, was brought to Asma bint Abi Bakr, she made dua for her and took water and poured it inside her collar. She said, "The Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, ordered us to cool it with water."

( ش ) : قَوْلُهُ إِنَّ أَسْمَاءَ كَانَتْ إِذَا أُتِيَتْ بِالْمَرْأَةِ وَقَدْ حُمَّتْ تَدْعُو لَهَا دَلِيلٌ أَنَّ ذَلِكَ كَانَ يَتَكَرَّرُ مِنْهَا تَبَرُّكًا مِنْ النَّاسِ بِهَا وَرَغْبَةً فِي دُعَائِهَا فَكَانَتْ تُضِيفُ إِلَى ذَلِكَ أَنْ تَصُبَّ الْمَاءَ بَيْنَ الْمَرْأَةِ الْمَحْمُومَةِ وَجَيْبِهَا تَبْرِيدًا لَهَا وَقَالَ : عِيسَى بْنُ دِينَارٍ تَأْخُذُ الْمَاءَ فَتَصُبُّهُ فِيمَا بَيْنَ طَوْقِهَا وَجَسَدِهَا حَتَّى يَصِلَ الْمَاءُ إِلَى جَسَدِهَا تَرْجُو بِذَلِكَ بَرَكَةَ قَوْلِ النَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّم فَأَبْرِدُوهَا بِالْمَاءِ وَيَحْتَمِلُ - وَاَللَّهُ أَعْلَمُ - أَنْ يَكُونَ ذَلِكَ مِنْ حُمَّى كَانَتْ مُتَكَرِّرَةً بِالْمَدِينَةِ ذَلِكَ الْوَقْتِ شَدِيدَةَ الْحَرِّ…

Yahya related to me from Malik from Abu'z Zinad from al-Araj from Abu Hurayra that the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, said, "When the heat is fierce, wait until it gets cooler before you do the prayer, for scorching heat is from the blast of Jahannam."

Abu Khulda reported that he heard Anas ibn Malik when he was with al-Hakam, the amir of Basra, on a seat. He said, "When the Prophet, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, was hot, he delayed the prayer until a cooler time of the day. When it was cold, he made the prayer early."

‘Ā'ishah (may Allah be pleased with her) reported the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Fever is from the searing heat of Hell, so cool it off with water."
