Sahih Muslim 1663

Chapter: Feeding a slave what one eats and clothing him as one clothes oneself, and not burdening him with more than he bear

Narrator:Abu Hurayrah

وَحَدَّثَنَا الْقَعْنَبِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا دَاوُدُ بْنُ قَيْسٍ، عَنْ مُوسَى بْنِ يَسَارٍ، عَنْ أَبِي هُرَيْرَةَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏

إِذَا صَنَعَ لأَحَدِكُمْ خَادِمُهُ طَعَامَهُ ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ بِهِ وَقَدْ وَلِيَ حَرَّهُ وَدُخَانَهُ فَلْيُقْعِدْهُ مَعَهُ فَلْيَأْكُلْ فَإِنْ كَانَ الطَّعَامُ مَشْفُوهًا قَلِيلاً فَلْيَضَعْ فِي يَدِهِ مِنْهُ أُكْلَةً أَوْ أُكْلَتَيْنِ ‏"

Abu Huraira reported Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) as saying:

When the slave of anyone amongst you prepares food for him and he serves him after having sat close to (and undergoing the hardship of) heat and smoke, he should make him (the slave) sit along with him and make him eat (along with him), and if the food seems to run short, then he should spare some portion for him (from his own share) - (another narrator) Dawud said:" i. e. a morsel or two". 4097

قَوْله صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ : ( إِذَا صَنَعَ لِأَحَدِكُمْ خَادِمه طَعَامه ثُمَّ جَاءَهُ بِهِ , وَقَدْ وَلِيَ حَرّه وَدُخَانه فَلْيُقْعِدْهُ مَعَهُ فَلْيَأْكُلْ , فَإِنْ كَانَ الطَّعَام مَشْفُوهًا قَلِيلًا فَلْيَضَعْ فِي يَده مِنْهُ أُكْلَة أَوْ أُكْلَتَيْن ) قَالَ دَاوُدُ : يَعْنِي لُقْمَة أَوْ لُقْمَتَيْنِ. أَمَّا الْأُكْلَة فَبِضَمِّ الْهَمْزَة وَهِيَ اللُّقْمَة , كَمَا فَسَّرَهُ , وَأَمَّا الْمَشْفُوه فَهُوَ الْقَلِيل ; لِأَنَّ الشِّفَاه كَثُرَتْ عَلَيْهِ حَتَّى صَارَ قَلِيلًا. قَوْله صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ( مَشْفُوهًا قَلِيلًا ) أَيْ : قَلِيلًا بِالنِّسْبَةِ إِلَى مَنْ اِجْتَمَعَ عَلَيْهِ. وَفِي هَذَا الْحَدِيث : الْحَثّ عَلَى مَكَارِم الْأَخْلَاق , وَالْمُوَاسَاة…

“I heard Abu Hurairah say: ‘The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: “When the servant of anyone of you brings him his food, let him make him sit by his side and eat with him, and if he refuses then let him give him some.”

Authentic Sunan Ibn Majah 3290

“When the slave of anyone of you brings his food to him, for which he (the slave) has worked hard and endured heat, let him invite him to eat with him, and if he does not do that then let him take a morsel and put it in his hand.”

"‏ إِذَا أَحَدُكُمْ قَرَّبَ إِلَيْهِ مَمْلُوكُهُ طَعَامًا قَدْ كَفَاهُ عَنَاءَهُ وَحَرَّهُ فَلْيَدْعُهُ فَلْيَأْكُلْ مَعَهُ فَإِنْ لَمْ يَفْعَلْ فَلْيَأْخُذْ لُقْمَةً فَلْيَجْعَلْهَا فِي يَدِهِ ‏"
