حَدَّثَنَا مُحَمَّدُ بْنُ خَلَفٍ الْعَسْقَلاَنِيُّ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الأَعْلَى، عَنْ يَحْيَى بْنِ أَبِي كَثِيرٍ، عَنْ عُرْوَةَ بْنِ الزُّبَيْرِ، عَنِ ابْنِ عُمَرَ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ ـ صلى الله عليه وسلم ـ ‏

"‏ إِذَا وُضِعَتِ الْمَائِدَةُ فَلْيَأْكُلْ مِمَّا يَلِيهِ وَلاَ يَتَنَاوَلْ مِنْ بَيْنِ يَدَىْ جَلِيسِهِ ‏"

It was narrated from Ibn ‘Umar that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said:

“When food is served, eat from that which is in front of you, and do not take from what is in front of your companion.’”

Al-Sindi — Hashiyat al-Sindi on Sunan Ibn Majah

قَوْله ( إِذَا وُضِعَتْ الْمَائِدَة ) هِيَ خُوَان عَلَيْهِ طَعَام فَإِذَا لَمْ يَكُنْ عَلَيْهِ طَعَام فَلَيْسَ بِمَائِدَةٍ وَإِنَّمَا هُوَ خُوَان ذَكَرَهُ فِي الصِّحَاح وَالظَّاهِر أَنَّ الْمُرَاد هَاهُنَا مَا يَعُمّ السُّفْرَة ( فَلْيَأْكُلْ ) أَيْ الْآكِل أَوْ مَنْ حَضَرَهُ ( وَلَا يَتَنَاوَلْ ) بِالْجَزْمِ عَلَى أَنَّهُ نَهْي وَفِي الزَّوَائِد فِي إِسْنَاده عَبْدُ الْأَعْلَى بْنُ أَعْيَنَ أَخُو حِمْرَانَ قَالَ الذَّهَبِيُّ فِي الْكَاشِف وَاهٍ وَقَالَ الدَّارَقُطْنِيُّ لَيْسَ بِثِقَةٍ وَقَالَ الْعُقَيْلِيُّ جَاءَ بِأَحَادِيثَ مُنْكَرَة لَيْسَ مِنْهَا شَيْء مَحْفُوظ وَقَالَ اِبْنُ حِبَّانَ لَا يَجُوز الِاحْتِجَاج بِهِ.…

The Prophet (ﷺ) was brought a dish containing Tharid and said, "Eat from its side and not from the middle, for the blessing descends in the middle of it." [Reported by al-Arba'a. This is the wording of an-Nasa'i. Its chain of narrators is Sahih (authentic)].

The Prophet (ﷺ) said: When one of you eats, he must not eat from the top of the dish, but should eat from the bottom; for the blessing descends from the top of it.

إِذَا أَكَلَ أَحَدُكُمْ طَعَامًا فَلاَ يَأْكُلْ مِنْ أَعْلَى الصَّحْفَةِ وَلَكِنْ لِيَأْكُلْ مِنْ أَسْفَلِهَا فَإِنَّ الْبَرَكَةَ تَنْزِلُ مِنْ أَعْلاَهَا ‏"
