حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَةُ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، عَنِ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَنَّهُ كَانَ

إِذَا سَلَّمَ سَلَّمَ ثَلاَثًا، وَإِذَا تَكَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ أَعَادَهَا ثَلاَثًا‏.‏

Narrated Anas:

Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) asked permission to enter, he knocked the door thrice with greeting and whenever he spoke a sentence (said a thing) he used to repeat it thrice. (See Hadith No. 261, Vol. 8).

قَوْله : ( حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَة ) هُوَ اِبْن عَبْد اللَّه الصَّفَّار , وَلَمْ يُخَرِّج الْبُخَارِيّ عَنْ عَبْدَة بْن عَبْد الرَّحِيم الْمَرْوَزِيِّ وَهُوَ مِنْ طَبَقَة عَبْدَة الصَّفَّار , وَفِي رِوَايَة الْأَصِيلِيّ حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَة الصَّفَّار. قَوْله : ( حَدَّثَنَا عَبْد الصَّمَد ) هُوَ اِبْن عَبْد الْوَارِث بْن سَعِيد , يُكَنَّى أَبَا سَهْل , وَالْمُثَنَّى وَالِد عَبْد اللَّه هُوَ بِضَمِّ الْمِيم وَفَتْح الْمُثَلَّثَة وَتَشْدِيد النُّون الْمَفْتُوحَة وَهُوَ اِبْن عَبْد اللَّه بْن أَنَس بْن مَالِك , وَثُمَامَة عَمّه. وَرِجَال هَذَا الْإِسْنَاد كُلّهمْ بَصْرِيُّونَ. قَوْله : ( عَنْ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنَّهُ كَانَ ) أَيْ : مِنْ عَادَة النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ…

Whenever Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) greeted somebody, he used to greet him three times, and if he spoke a sentence, he used to repeat it thrice.

إِذَا سَلَّمَ سَلَّمَ ثَلاَثًا، وَإِذَا تَكَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ أَعَادَهَا ثَلاَثًا‏.‏

"When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would give the Salam he would do so three times, and when he would say a statement, he would say it three times."
