حَدَّثَنَا إِسْحَاقُ بْنُ مَنْصُورٍ، أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ الصَّمَدِ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَارِثِ، حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ الْمُثَنَّى، حَدَّثَنَا ثُمَامَةُ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

كَانَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ سَلَّمَ ثَلاَثًا وَإِذَا تَكَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ أَعَادَهَا ثَلاَثًا ‏.‏

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

"When the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) would give the Salam he would do so three times, and when he would say a statement, he would say it three times."

قَوْلُهُ : ( أَنَّ رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ كَانَ إِذَا سَلَّمَ سَلَّمَ ثَلَاثًا ) قَالَ الْحَافِظُ اِبْنُ الْقَيِّمِ فِي زَادِ الْمَعَادِ : كَانَ مِنْ هَدْيِهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ أَنْ يُسَلِّمَ ثَلَاثًا كَمَا فِي صَحِيحِ الْبُخَارِيِّ عَنْ أَنَسٍ رَضِيَ اللَّهُ عَنْهُ قَالَ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ إِذَا تَكَلَّمَ بِكَلِمَةٍ أَعَادَهَا ثَلَاثًا حَتَّى تُفْهَمَ عَنْهُ وَإِذَا أَتَى عَلَى قَوْمٍ فَسَلَّمَ عَلَيْهِمْ سَلَّمَ ثَلَاثًا حَتَّى يُفْهَمَ , وَلَعَلَّ هَذَا كَانَ هَدْيَهُ فِي السَّلَامِ عَلَى الْجَمْعِ الْكَثِيرِ الَّذِينَ لَا يَبْلُغُهُمْ سَلَامٌ وَاحِدٌ أَوْ هَدْيَهُ فِي إِسْمَاعِ السَّلَامِ الثَّانِي وَالثَّالِ…

Whenever the Prophet (ﷺ) asked permission to enter, he knocked the door thrice with greeting and whenever he spoke a sentence (said a thing) he used to repeat it thrice. (See Hadith No. 261, Vol. 8).
