Chapter: The time for the Jumu'ah (prayer) is due when the sun declines (i.e. just after mid-day)

Narrator:Anas ibn Mālik

حَدَّثَنَا عَبْدَانُ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا عَبْدُ اللَّهِ، قَالَ أَخْبَرَنَا حُمَيْدٌ، عَنْ أَنَسٍ، قَالَ

كُنَّا نُبَكِّرُ بِالْجُمُعَةِ، وَنَقِيلُ بَعْدَ الْجُمُعَةِ‏.‏

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

We used to offer the Jumua prayer early and then have an afternoon nap.

أَمَّا رِوَايَة حُمَيْدٍ الَّتِي بَعْد هَذَا عَنْ أَنَس " كُنَّا نُبَكِّر بِالْجُمُعَةِ وَنَقِيل بَعْد الْجُمُعَة " فَظَاهِره أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يُصَلُّونَ الْجُمُعَة بَاكِر النَّهَار , لَكِنَّ طَرِيق الْجَمْع أَوْلَى مِنْ دَعْوَى التَّعَارُض , وَقَدْ تَقَرَّرَ فِيمَا تَقَدَّمَ أَنَّ التَّبْكِير يُطْلَق عَلَى فِعْل الشَّيْء فِي أَوَّل وَقْته أَوْ تَقْدِيمه عَلَى غَيْره وَهُوَ الْمُرَاد هُنَا , وَالْمَعْنَى أَنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَبْدَءُونَ بِالصَّلَاةِ قَبْل الْقَيْلُولَة , بِخِلَافِ مَا جَرَتْ بِهِ عَادَتهمْ فِي صَلَاة الظُّهْر فِي الْحَرّ فَإِنَّهُمْ كَانُوا يَقِيلُونَ ثُمَّ يُصَلُّونَ لِمَشْرُوعِيَّةِ الْإِيرَاد , وَلِهَذِهِ النُّكْتَة أَوْرَدَ الْبُخَارِيّ طَرِيق حُمَيْدٍ عَنْ أَنَس عَقِب طَر…

We used to observe (Jumu'a) prayer with the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and then we returned and gave rest to our camels used for carrying water. Hassan[ (one of the narrators) said: I asked Ja'far what time that was. He said.. It is the time when the sun passes the meridian.

كُنَّا نُصَلِّي مَعَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ثُمَّ نَرْجِعُ فَنُرِيحُ نَوَاضِحَنَا ‏.‏
