حَدَّثَنَا مُوسَى بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا إِبْرَاهِيمُ بْنُ سَعْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا الزُّهْرِيُّ، عَنْ هِنْدٍ بِنْتِ الْحَارِثِ، أَنَّ أُمَّ سَلَمَةَ ـ رضى الله عنها ـ قَالَتْ كَانَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم

إِذَا سَلَّمَ قَامَ النِّسَاءُ حِينَ يَقْضِي تَسْلِيمَهُ، وَمَكَثَ يَسِيرًا قَبْلَ أَنْ يَقُومَ‏.‏

Narrated Um Salama:

Whenever Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) finished his prayers with Taslim, the women would get up and he would stay on for a while in his place before getting up. Ibn Shihab said, "I think (and Allah knows better), that the purpose of his stay was that the women might leave before the men who had finished their prayer. "

Explanation in Arabic

أخبرت أم سلمة رضي الله عنها أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم كان إذا سلم من الصلاة قام النساء أول ما ينتهي تسليمه، فيسلمن وينصرفن، وانتظر مدةً يسيرةً قبل أن يقوم، قال التابعي ابن شهاب الزهري رحمه الله أحد رواة هذا الحديث: فأظن والله أعلم أن انتظاره عليه الصلاة والسلام يسيرًا كان من أجل أن يخرج النساء قبل أن يلحقهن من انصرف من الرجال المصلين.

  • التحذير من مخالطة الرجال النساء، وذلك حفظًا لحياء المرأة، ومنعًا من الافتتان بها.
  • استحباب صلاة النساء في المسجد.
  • استحباب أن يسرع النساء في الانصراف من المسجد إذا احتيج إلى ذلك.

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 866

(the wife of the Prophet) In the lifetime of Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) the women used to get up when they finished their compulsory prayers with Taslim. The Prophet (ﷺ) and the men would stay on at their places as long as Allah will. When the Prophet (ﷺ) got up, the men would then get up.

كُنَّ إِذَا سَلَّمْنَ مِنَ الْمَكْتُوبَةِ قُمْنَ، وَثَبَتَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم وَمَنْ صَلَّى مِنَ الرِّجَالِ مَا شَاءَ اللَّهُ، فَإِذَا قَامَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم قَامَ الرِّجَالُ‏.‏

I saw the people tying their wrappers over their necks like children due to the narrowness of the wrappers behind the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) during prayer. Someone said: Body of women, do not raise your heads until the men raise (their heads).

I heard the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) say: One of you who believes in Allah and in the Last Day should not raise her head until the men raise their heads (after prostration) lest they should see the private parts of men.
