Narrator:Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ حُمَيْدٍ، حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُعَاذٍ، حَدَّثَنَا أَبِي، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ سَعْدِ بْنِ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، عَنْ مُحَمَّدِ بْنِ الْمُنْكَدِرِ، قَالَ رَأَيْتُ جَابِرَ بْنَ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ يَحْلِفُ بِاللَّهِ أَنَّ ابْنَ الصَّائِدِ الدَّجَّالُ، قُلْتُ تَحْلِفُ بِاللَّهِ‏.‏ قَالَ

إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَحْلِفُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ عِنْدَ النَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْهُ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم‏.‏

Narrated Muhammad bin Al-Munkadir:

I saw Jabir bin `Abdullah swearing by Allah that Ibn Sayyad was the Dajjal. I said to Jabir, "How can you swear by Allah?" Jabir said, "I have heard `Umar swearing by Allah regarding this matter in the presence of the Prophet (ﷺ) and the Prophet (ﷺ) did not disapprove of it."

قَوْله ( حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّاد بْن حُمَيْدٍ ) هُوَ خُرَاسَانِيّ فِيمَا ذَكَرَ أَبُو عَبْد اللَّه بْن مَنْدَهْ فِي رِجَال الْبُخَارِيّ , وَذَكَرَ اِبْن رَشِيد فِي فَوَائِد رِحْلَته , وَالْمِزِّيّ فِي التَّهْذِيب أَنَّ فِي بَعْض النُّسَخ الْقَدِيمَة مِنْ الْبُخَارِيّ " حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّاد بْن حُمَيْدٍ صَاحِب لَنَا " حَدَّثَنَا بِهَذَا الْحَدِيث وَعُبَيْد اللَّه بْن مُعَاذ فِي الْأَحْيَاء , وَذَكَرَ اِبْن أَبِي حَاتِم فِي الْجَرْح وَالتَّعْدِيل " حَمَّاد بْن حُمَيْدٍ " نَزِيل عَسْقَلَان رَوَى عَنْ بِشْر بْن بَكْر وَأَبِي ضَمْرَة وَغَيْرهمَا وَسَمِعَ مِنْهُ أَبُو حَاتِم وَقَالَ شَيْخِي فَزَعَمَ أَبُو الْوَلِيد الْبَاجِيّ فِي رِجَال الْبُخَارِيّ أَنَّهُ هُوَ الَّذِي رَوَى عَنْهُ الْبُخَارِيّ هُنَا وَ…

You swear by Allah! He said: I heard Umar swearing to that in the presence of the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), but the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) did not make any objection to it.

إِنِّي سَمِعْتُ عُمَرَ يَحْلِفُ عَلَى ذَلِكَ عِنْدَ رَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَلَمْ يُنْكِرْهُ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏.‏

Muhammad b. al-Munkadir told that he saw Jabir b. `Abdallah swearing by God that Ibn as-Sayyad was the dajjal, and when he expressed surprise that he should, swear by God, he replied that he had heard `Umar swearing to that in the Prophet's presence without the Prophet making any objection to it…
