Chapter: “Whosoever takes up arms against us, is not from us.”

Narrator:Jābir ibn ‘Abdullāh

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو النُّعْمَانِ، حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادُ بْنُ زَيْدٍ، عَنْ عَمْرِو بْنِ دِينَارٍ، عَنْ جَابِرٍ، أَنَّ رَجُلاً، مَرَّ فِي الْمَسْجِدِ بِأَسْهُمٍ قَدْ أَبْدَى نُصُولَهَا،

فَأُمِرَ أَنْ يَأْخُذَ بِنُصُولِهَا، لاَ يَخْدِشُ مُسْلِمًا‏.‏

Narrated Jabir:

A man passed through the mosque and he was carrying arrows, the heads of which were exposed (protruding). The man was ordered (by the Prophet) to hold the iron heads so that it might not scratch (injure) any Muslim.

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

قَوْله ( بِأَسْهُمٍ ) هُوَ جَمْع قِلَّة يَدُلّ عَلَى أَنَّ الْمُرَاد بِقَوْلِهِ فِي الطَّرِيق الْأُولَى " بِسِهَامٍ " أَنَّهَا سِهَام قَلِيلَة , وَقَدْ وَقَعَ فِي رِوَايَة لِمُسْلِمٍ أَنَّ الْمَارّ الْمَذْكُور كَانَ يَتَصَدَّق بِهَا. قَوْله ( قَدْ بَدَا ) فِي رِوَايَة غَيْر الْكُشْمِيهَنِيِّ " أُبْدِي " وَالنُّصُول بِضَمَّتَيْنِ جَمْع نَصْل بِفَتْحِ النُّون وَسُكُون الْمُهْمَلَة وَيُجْمَع عَلَى نِصَال بِكَسْرِ أَوَّله كَمَا فِي الرِّوَايَة الْأُولَى , وَالنَّصْل حَدِيدَة السَّهْم. قَوْله ( فَأَمَرَهُ أَنْ يَأْخُذ بِنُصُولِهَا ) يُفَسِّر قَوْله فِي الرِّوَايَة الْأُخْرَى " أَمْسِكْ بِنِصَالِهَا ". قَوْله ( لَا يَخْدِش مُسْلِمًا ) بِمُعْجَمَتَيْنِ هُوَ تَعْلِيل لِلْأَمْرِ بِالْإِمْسَاكِ عَلَى…

Abu Mūsa al-Ash‘ari (may Allah be pleased with him) reported that the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Whoever passes through any of our mosques or markets with arrows with him, he should hold them by their heads (blades) lest he injures any of the Muslims with them."

وعنه قال‏:‏ قال رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏:‏ “من مر في شيء من مساجدنا، أو أسواقنا، ومعه نبل فليمسك، أو ليقبض على نصالها بكفه أن يصيب أحدًا من المسلمين منها بشيء” ‏(‏‏(‏متفق عليه‏)‏‏)‏ ‏.‏

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 452

(on the authority of his father) The Prophet (ﷺ) said, "Whoever passes through our mosques or markets with arrows should hold them by their heads lest he should injure a Muslim."

مَنْ مَرَّ فِي شَىْءٍ مِنْ مَسَاجِدِنَا أَوْ أَسْوَاقِنَا بِنَبْلٍ، فَلْيَأْخُذْ عَلَى نِصَالِهَا، لاَ يَعْقِرْ بِكَفِّهِ مُسْلِمًا ‏"
