Narrator:Al-Barā' ibn ‘Āzib

حَدَّثَنَا عُبَيْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ مُوسَى، عَنْ إِسْرَائِيلَ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ

آخِرُ آيَةٍ نَزَلَتْ خَاتِمَةُ سُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ ‏‏{‏يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلِ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِي الْكَلاَلَةِ‏}‏

Narrated Al-Bara:

The last Qur'anic Verse that was revealed (to the Prophet) was the final Verse of Surat-an-Nisa, i.e., 'They ask you for a legal verdict Say: Allah directs (thus) About those who leave No descendants or ascendants as heirs....' (4.176)

حَدِيث الْبَرَاء مِنْ طَرِيق أَبِي إِسْحَاق عَنْهُ " آخِر آيَة نَزَلَتْ خَاتِمَة سُورَة النِّسَاء : يَسْتَفْتُونَك قُلْ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِي الْكَلَالَةِ " وَأَرَادَ بِذَلِكَ مَا فِيهَا مِنْ التَّنْصِيصِ عَلَى مِيرَاث الْإِخْوَة , وَقَدْ أَخْرَجَ أَبُو دَاوُدَ فِي " الْمَرَاسِيل " مِنْ وَجْه آخَر عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاق عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَة بْن عَبْد الرَّحْمَن " جَاءَ رَجُل , فَقَالَ : يَا رَسُول اللَّه مَا الْكَلَالَة ؟ قَالَ : مَنْ لَمْ يَتْرُك وَلَدًا وَلَا وَالِدًا فَوَرَثَتُهُ كَلَالَةٌ ". وَوَقَعَ فِي صَحِيح مُسْلِمٍ عَنْ عُمَر أَنَّهُ خَطَبَ ثُمَّ قَالَ " إِنِّي لَا أَدَعُ بَعْدِي شَيْئًا أَهَمَّ عِنْدِي مِنْ الْكَلَالَة , وَمَا رَاجَعْت رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ مَ…

The last Verse that was revealed was: 'They ask you for a legal verdict: Say: Allah directs (thus) about Al-Kalalah (those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs).' And the last Sura which was revealed was Baraatun (9) .
