Narrator:Al-Barā' ibn ‘Āzib

حَدَّثَنِي عَبْدُ اللَّهِ بْنُ رَجَاءٍ، حَدَّثَنَا إِسْرَائِيلُ، عَنْ أَبِي إِسْحَاقَ، عَنِ الْبَرَاءِ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ

آخِرُ سُورَةٍ نَزَلَتْ كَامِلَةً بَرَاءَةٌ، وَآخِرُ سُورَةٍ نَزَلَتْ خَاتِمَةُ سُورَةِ النِّسَاءِ ‏‏{‏يَسْتَفْتُونَكَ قُلِ اللَّهُ يُفْتِيكُمْ فِي الْكَلاَلَةِ‏}‏

Narrated Al-Bara:

The last Sura which was revealed in full was Baraa (i.e. Sura-at-Tauba), and the last Sura (i.e. part of a Sura) which was revealed was the last Verses of Sura-an-Nisa':-- "They ask you for a legal decision. Say: Allah directs (thus) About those who have No descendants or ascendants As heirs." (4.177)

Ibn Hajar al-Asqalani — Fath al-Bari

حَدِيث الْبَرَاء " آخِر سُورَة نَزَلَتْ كَامِلَة بَرَاءَة " الْحَدِيث , وَسَيَأْتِي شَرْحه فِي التَّفْسِير أَيْضًا وَبَيَان مَا وَقَعَ فِيهِ مِنْ الْإِشْكَال مِنْ قَوْله : " كَامِلَة " وَالْغَرَض مِنْهُ الْإِشَارَة إِلَى أَنَّ نُزُول قَوْله تَعَالَى : ( إِنَّمَا الْمُشْرِكُونَ نَجَس فَلَا يَقْرَبُوا الْمَسْجِد الْحَرَام بَعْد عَامهمْ هَذَا ) الْآيَة كَانَ فِي هَذِهِ الْقِصَّة , أَشَارَ إِلَى ذَلِكَ الْإِسْمَاعِيلِيّ وَدَقَّقَ فِي ذَلِكَ عَلَى خِلَاف عَادَته مِنْ الِاعْتِرَاض عَلَى مِثْل ذَلِكَ. وَقَدْ ذَكَرَ اِبْن إِسْحَاق بِإِسْنَادٍ مُرْسَل قَالَ : " نَزَلَتْ بَرَاءَة وَقَدْ بَعَثَ النَّبِيّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَلِيًّا عَلَى الْحَجّ , فَقِيلَ لَوْ بَعَثْت بِهَا إِلَى أَبِي بَ…

The last Verse that was revealed was: 'They ask you for a legal verdict: Say: Allah directs (thus) about Al-Kalalah (those who leave no descendants or ascendants as heirs).' And the last Sura which was revealed was Baraatun (9) .

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 6744

The last Qur'anic Verse that was revealed (to the Prophet) was the final Verse of Surat-an-Nisa, i.e., 'They ask you for a legal verdict Say: Allah directs (thus) About those who leave No descendants or ascendants as heirs....' (4.176)
