حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، حَدَّثَنَا يَحْيَى، عَنْ شُعْبَةَ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ زَيْدٍ، عَنِ ابْنِ عَبَّاسٍ، قَالَ قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صلى الله عليه وسلم أَلاَ تَزَوَّجُ ابْنَةَ حَمْزَةَ قَالَ ‏"‏ إِنَّهَا

ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ ‏"

Narrated Ibn `Abbas:

It was said to the Prophet, "Won't you marry the daughter of Hamza?" He said, "She is my foster niece (brother's daughter). "

حَدِيث اِبْن عَبَّاس قَوْله ( عَنْ جَابِر بْن زَيْد ) هُوَ أَبُو الشَّعْثَاء الْبَصْرِيّ مَشْهُور بِكُنْيَتِهِ , وَأَمَّا جَابِر بْن يَزِيد الْكُوفِيّ فَأَوَّل اِسْم أَبِيهِ تَحْتَانِيَّة وَلَيْسَ لَهُ فِي الصَّحِيح شَيْء. قَوْله ( قِيلَ لِلنَّبِيِّ صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ) الْقَائِل لَهُ ذَلِكَ هُوَ عَلِيّ بْن أَبِي طَالِب كَمَا أَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِم مِنْ حَدِيثه قَالَ " قُلْت يَا رَسُول اللَّه مَالَك تَنَوَّق فِي قُرَيْش وَتَدْعُنَا ؟ قَالَ : وَعِنْدكُمْ شَيْء ؟ قُلْت : نَعَمْ اِبْنَة حَمْزَة " الْحَدِيث , وَقَوْله " تَنَوَّق " ضُبِطَ بِفَتْحِ الْمُثَنَّاة وَالنُّون وَتَشْدِيد الْوَاو بَعْدهَا قَاف أَيْ تَخْتَار مُشْتَقّ مِنْ النِّيقَة بِكَسْرِ النُّون وَسُكُون التَّحْتَانِيَّة بَعْ…

It was proposed that he (the Holy Prophet) be married to the daughter of Hamza, whereupon he said: She is not lawful for me for she is the daughter of my foster-brother, and that is unlawful by reason of fosterage what is unlawful by reason of genealogy.

إِنَّهَا لاَ تَحِلُّ لِي إِنَّهَا ابْنَةُ أَخِي مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ وَيَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّضَاعَةِ مَا يَحْرُمُ مِنَ الرَّحِمِ ‏"

A hadith like this is narrated on the authority of Hammam, Sa'id, Bishr b 'Umar, but with a small variation of words.

"Mention was made to the Messenger of Allah of the daughter of Hamzah (as a potential wife). He said: 'She is the daughter of my brother through breast-feeding.'" (One of the narrators) Shu'bah said: "Qatadah heard this from Jabir bin Zaid."

"She is the daughter of my brother through breast-feeding, and what becomes unlawful (for marriage) through breast-feeding is the same as that which becomes unlawful through lineage."

that the Messenger of was offered the daughter of Hamzah bin 'Abdul-Muttalib in marriage, and he said: “She is the daughter of my brother through breastfeeding, and breastfeeding makes unlawful (for marriage) the same things that blood ties make unlawful.”
