The Statement of Allah the Most High: "...When they gave their Bai'a (pledge) to you (O Muḥammad pbuh) under the tree..." (V.48:18)

Narrator:Abdullāh ibn Mughaffal

حَدَّثَنَا عَلِيُّ بْنُ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، حَدَّثَنَا شَبَابَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ قَتَادَةَ، قَالَ سَمِعْتُ عُقْبَةَ بْنَ صُهْبَانَ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ الْمُزَنِيِّ،

إِنِّي مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ الشَّجَرَةَ، نَهَى النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم عَنِ الْخَذْفِ

Narrated `Uqba bin Sahban:

`Abdullah bin Mughaffal Al-Muzani who was one of those who witnessed (the event of) the tree, said, "The Prophet (ﷺ) forbade the throwing of small stones (with two fingers)."

وَثَانِيها : قَوْله : ( عَلِيّ بْن عَبْد اللَّه ) هُوَ اِبْن الْمَدِينِيّ كَذَا لِلْأَكْثَرِ , وَوَقَعَ فِي رِوَايَة الْمُسْتَمْلِيّ ( عَلِيّ بْن سَلَمَة ) وَهُوَ اللَّبَقِيّ بِفَتْحِ اللَّام وَالْمُوَحَّدَة ثُمَّ قَاف خَفِيفَة وَبِهِ جَزَمَ الْكَلَابَاذِيّ. قَوْله : ( عَنْ عَبْد اللَّه بْن الْمُغَفَّل الْمُزَنِيِّ مِمَّنْ شَهِدَ الشَّجَرَة قَالَ : نَهَى رَسُول اللَّه صَلَّى اللَّه عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ عَنْ الْخَذْف ) بِخَاءٍ مُعْجَمَة أَيْ الرَّمْي بِالْحَصَى بَيْن إِصْبَعَيْنِ , وَسَيَأْتِي الْكَلَام عَلَيْهِ فِي الْأَدَب. قَوْله : ( وَعَنْ عُقْبَة بْن صُهْبَان سَمِعْت عَبْد اللَّه بْن مُغَفَّل الْمُزَنِيَّ فِي الْبَوْل فِي الْمُغْتَسَل ) كَذَا لِلْأَكْثَرِ وَزَادَ فِي رِوَايَة الْأَصِيلِيّ…

Authentic Sunan Abu Dawud 5270

The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) prohibited throwing pebbles (in sport) saying : game is not caught by such means. Neither is an enemy injured, but it may sometimes put out an eye or break a tooth.
