Narrator:Abdullāh ibn Mughaffal

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو الْوَلِيدِ، حَدَّثَنَا شُعْبَةُ، عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْنِ هِلاَلٍ، عَنْ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ مُغَفَّلٍ ـ رضى الله عنه ـ قَالَ

كُنَّا مُحَاصِرِينَ قَصْرَ خَيْبَرَ، فَرَمَى إِنْسَانٌ بِجِرَابٍ فِيهِ شَحْمٌ، فَنَزَوْتُ لآخُذَهُ، فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنْهُ‏.‏

Narrated `Abdullah bin Mughaffal:

While we were besieging the fort of Khaibar, a person threw a leather container containing fat, and I ran to take it, but when I turned I saw the Prophet (standing behind), so I felt embarrassed in front of him.

قَوْله : ( عَنْ عَبْد اللَّه بْن مُغَفَّل ) بِالْمُعْجَمَةِ وَالْفَاء وَزْن مُحَمَّد , وَفِي رِوَايَة بَهْزِ بْن أَسَد عَنْ شُعْبَة عِنْد مُسْلِم " سَمِعْت عَبْد اللَّه بْن مُغَفَّل " وَفِي رِوَايَة سُلَيْمَان بْن الْمُغِيرَة عَنْ حُمَيْدِ بْن هِلَال " حَدَّثَنِي عَبْد اللَّه بْن مُغَفَّل " وَالْإِسْنَاد كُلّه بَصْرِيُّونَ. قَوْله : ( فَرَمَى إِنْسَان ) لَمْ أَقِف عَلَى اِسْمه وَلِأَبِي دَاوُدَ مِنْ طَرِيق سُلَيْمَان بْن الْمُغِيرَة " دُلِّيَ بِجِرَابِ يَوْم خَيْبَر فَالْتَزَمْته ". قَوْلُهُ : ( بِجِرَابِ ) ) بِكَسْرِ الْجِيم. قَوْله : ( فَنَزَوْت ) بِالنُّونِ وَالزَّاي أَيْ وَثَبْت مُسْرِعًا , وَوَقَعَ فِي رِوَايَة سُلَيْمَان بْنِ الْمُغِيرَة " فَالْتَزَمْته " فَقُلْت لَا أُعْطِي الْيَوْم أ…

كُنَّا مُحَاصِرِي خَيْبَرَ فَرَمَى إِنْسَانٌ بِجِرَابٍ فِيهِ شَحْمٌ، فَنَزَوْتُ لآخُذَهُ، فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم، فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ‏.‏

Authentic Sahih al-Bukhari 5508

While we were besieging the castle of Khaibar, Somebody threw a skin full of fat and I went ahead to take it, but on looking behind, I saw the Prophet (ﷺ) and I felt shy in his presence (and did not take it).

فَرَمَى إِنْسَانٌ بِجِرَابٍ فِيهِ شَحْمٌ، فَنَزَوْتُ لآخُذَهُ، فَالْتَفَتُّ فَإِذَا النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم فَاسْتَحْيَيْتُ مِنْهُ‏.

A bag containing food and fat was thrown to us. I lept forward to catch it. Then I turned round and saw (to my surprise) the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) and I felt ashamed of my act in his presence.
