Narrator:As-Sā'ib ibn Yazīd

حَدَّثَنَا مَالِكُ بْنُ إِسْمَاعِيلَ، حَدَّثَنَا ابْنُ عُيَيْنَةَ، عَنِ الزُّهْرِيِّ، قَالَ قَالَ السَّائِبُ بْنُ يَزِيدَ ـ رضى الله عنه

ذَهَبْنَا نَتَلَقَّى رَسُولَ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم مَعَ الصِّبْيَانِ إِلَى ثَنِيَّةِ الْوَدَاعِ‏.‏

As-Sā'ib ibn Yazīd (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: When the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the battle of Tabūk to Madīnah, the people received him and I met him along with the children at Thaniyyat al-Wadā’.

In another narration: "We went out along with the children to meet the Messenger of Allah (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) at Thaniyyat al-Wadā‘."

Explanation

As-Sā'ib informed us that when the Prophet (may Allah's peace and blessings be upon him) returned from the battle of Tabūk with the Companions, the people went out to meet him at Thaniyyat al-Wadā‘, which is a place near Madīnah. They did so in order to make the Prophet and his Companions feel at ease and comfortable. Moreover, this good reception would encourage those who stayed behind to participate in the battle next time.

أخبر السائب أنه لما قدم النبي صلى الله عليه وسلم مع الصحابة راجعين من غزوة تبوك خرجوا لاستقبالهم بثنية الوداع وهو موضع بقرب المدينة، وذلك لما فيه من التأنيس لهم والتطييب لخاطرهم، والترغيب لمن كان قاعداً في الغزو.

  • مشروعية استقبال القادمين من حرب أو سفر.
  • حرص الصحابة -رضي الله عنهم- على استقبال النبي -صلى الله عليه وسلم- في رجوعه من غزوة تبوك.
  • أنَّ غزوة تبوك تمثل تاريخاً هاماً للدعوة الإسلامية.
