Chapter: A Junub can stay at home without taking a bath but with ablution

حَدَّثَنَا أَبُو نُعَيْمٍ، قَالَ حَدَّثَنَا هِشَامٌ، وَشَيْبَانُ، عَنْ يَحْيَى، عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ، قَالَ سَأَلْتُ عَائِشَةَ أَكَانَ النَّبِيُّ صلى الله عليه وسلم يَرْقُدُ وَهْوَ جُنُبٌ قَالَتْ

نَعَمْ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ‏.‏

Narrated Abu Salama:

I asked `Aisha "Did the Prophet (ﷺ) use to sleep while he was Junub?" She replied, "Yes, but he used to perform ablution (before going to bed).

قَوْله : ( حَدَّثَنَا هِشَام ) هُوَ الدَّسْتُوَائِيّ وَشَيْبَان ) هُوَ ابْن عَبْدِ الرَّحْمَن وَيَحْيَى هُوَ اِبْن أَبِي كَثِير وَصَرَّحَ بِتَحْدِيثِ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ لَهُ فِي رِوَايَةِ اِبْن أَبِي شَيْبَة. وَرَوَاهُ الْأَوْزَاعِيّ عَنْ يَحْيَى بْن أَبِي كَثِير عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ عَنْ اِبْن عُمَر أَخْرَجَهُ النَّسَائِيّ. قَوْله : ( قَالَ نَعَمْ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ ) هُوَ مَعْطُوفٌ عَلَى مَا سَدَّ لَفْظ " نَعَمْ " مَسَدّه أَيْ يَرْقُدُ وَيَتَوَضَّأُ وَالْوَاو لَا تَقْتَضِي التَّرْتِيبَ فَالْمَعْنَى يَتَوَضَّأُ ثُمَّ يَرْقُدُ وَلِمُسْلِمٍ مِنْ طَرِيق الزُّهْرِيّ عَنْ أَبِي سَلَمَةَ بِلَفْظ " كَانَ إِذَا أَرَادَ أَنْ يَنَامَ وَهُوَ جُنُبٌ تَوَضَّأَ وُضُوءَهُ لِلصَّلَاةِ " وَهَذَا السِّيَاق أَوْضَح فِي…

O Messenger of Allah, may anyone of us sleep while being ritually impure? He said: Yes, he may sleep if he makes ablution

‘Abdullāh ibn ‘Umar (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: ‘Umar ibn al-Khattāb (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "O Messenger of Allah, may anyone of us sleep while being ritually impure?" He said: "Yes, he may sleep if he makes ablution."
