حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا سُفْيَانُ، عَنْ عُبَيْدِ اللَّهِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، عَنْ عَمِّهِ، يَزِيدَ بْنِ الأَصَمِّ عَنْ مَيْمُونَةَ، أَنَّ النَّبِيَّ صلى الله عليه وسلم كَانَ

إِذَا سَجَدَ جَافَى بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى لَوْ أَنَّ بَهْمَةً أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَمُرَّ تَحْتَ يَدَيْهِ مَرَّتْ ‏.‏

Maimunah said:

When the Prophet(ﷺ) prostrated himself, he kept his arms so far away from his sides that if a lamb had wanted to pass under his arms, it could have done so.

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( جَافَى ) : أَيْ أَبْعَد وَفَرَّقَ ( بَيْن يَدَيْهِ ) : أَيْ وَمَا يُحَاذِيهِمَا ( أَنَّ بَهْمَة ) : بِفَتْحِ الْبَاء وَسُكُون الْهَاء وَلَد الضَّأْن أَكْبَر مِنْ السَّخْلَة. قَالَهُ اِبْن الْمَلَك. وَفِي الْقَامُوس الْبَهْمَة أَوْلَاد الضَّأْن وَالْمَعْز. قَالَ أَبُو عُبَيْد وَغَيْره مِنْ أَهْل اللُّغَة : الْبَهْمَة وَاحِدَة الْبَهْم وَهِيَ أَوْلَاد الْغَنَم مِنْ الذُّكُور وَالْإِنَاث وَجَمْع الْبَهْم بِهَام بِكَسْرِ الْبَاء. وَقَالَ الْجَوْهَرِيّ : الْبَهْمَة مِنْ أَوْلَاد الضَّأْن خَاصَّة وَيُطْلَق عَلَى الذَّكَر وَالْأُنْثَى قَالَ وَالسِّخَال أَوْلَاد الْمِعْزَى ( مَرَّتْ ) : جَوَاب لَوْ. قَالَ الْمُنْذِرِيُّ : وَأَخْرَجَهُ مُسْلِم وَالنَّسَائِيُّ وَابْن مَاجَهْ.…

Authentic Sunan an-Nasa'i 1109

When the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated he would hold his arms out from his sides so that if a lamb wanted to pass beneath his arms it would be able to do so.

إِذَا سَجَدَ جَافَى يَدَيْهِ حَتَّى لَوْ أَنَّ بَهْمَةً أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَمُرَّ تَحْتَ يَدَيْهِ مَرَّتْ ‏.‏

Authentic Sunan Ibn Majah 880

It was narrated from Maimunah that when the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated, he would hold his forearms away from his sides, such that if a lamb wanted to pass under his arms, it would be able to do so.

إِذَا سَجَدَ جَافَى يَدَيْهِ فَلَوْ أَنَّ بَهْمَةً أَرَادَتْ أَنْ تَمُرَّ بَيْنَ يَدَيْهِ لَمَرَّتْ ‏.‏

Authentic Mishkat al-Masabih 890

She said that when the Prophet prostrated himself, if a lamb had wanted to pass between his arms it could have done so.

It was narrated from Maimunah that when the Prophet (ﷺ) prostrated, he would hold his forearms away from his sides, such that if a lamb wanted to pass under his arms, it would be able to do so.
