حَدَّثَنَا مُسْلِمُ بْنُ إِبْرَاهِيمَ، حَدَّثَنَا الْقَاسِمُ بْنُ الْفَضْلِ، عَنْ أَبِي نَضْرَةَ، عَنْ أَبِي سَعِيدٍ، قَالَ قَالَ رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم ‏"‏

تَمْرُقُ مَارِقَةٌ عِنْدَ فُرْقَةٍ مِنَ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَقْتُلُهَا أَوْلَى الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ بِالْحَقِّ ‏"

Abu Sa’id reported the Messenger of Allah (May peace be upon him) as saying:

In the event of the dissension among Muslims an emerging sect will emerge ; one of the two parties that is nearer to the truth will kill it.

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( تَمْرُق ) كَتَخْرُج وَزْنًا وَمَعْنًى ( مَارِقَة ) : يَعْنِي الْخَوَارِج قَالَ فِي جَامِع الْأُصُول مِنْ مَرَقَ السَّهْم فِي الْهَدَف إِذَا نَفَذَ فِيهِ وَخَرَجَ , وَالْمُرَاد أَنْ يَخْرُج طَائِفَة مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ فَيُحَارِبهُمْ. وَجَاءَ فِي بَعْض الرِّوَايَات " يَكُون أُمَّتِي فِرْقَتَيْنِ فَيَخْرُج مِنْ بَيْنهمَا مَارِقَة يَلِي قَتْلهمْ أَوْلَاهُمْ بِالْحَقِّ ". قَالَ الطِّيبِيُّ : قَوْله يَلِي صِفَة مَارِقَة أَيْ يُبَاشِرهُ قَتْل الْخَوَارِج أَوْلَى أُمَّتِي بِالْحَقِّ. قَالَ الْخَطَّابِيُّ : اِجْمَعُوا أَنَّ الْخَوَارِج عَلَى ضَلَالَتهمْ فِرْقَة مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ يَجُوز مُنَاكَحَتهمْ وَذَبْحهمْ وَشَهَادَتهمْ كَذَا فِي الْمَجْمَع ( عِنْد فِرْقَة مِنْ الْمُسْلِمِينَ ) : أَيْ عِنْد…

Abu Sa'id al-Khudri reported from the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) that a group (Khawarij) would emerge from the different parties (the party of Hadrat 'Ali and the party of Amir Mu'awiya), the group nearer the truth between the two would kill them.

قَوْمًا يَخْرُجُونَ عَلَى فُرْقَةٍ مُخْتَلِفَةٍ يَقْتُلُهُمْ أَقْرَبُ الطَّائِفَتَيْنِ مِنَ الْحَقِّ ‏.‏

There would be two groups in my Ummah, and there would emerge another group (seceding itself from both of them), and the party nearer to the truth among the two would kill them (the group of the Khawarij).
