حَدَّثَنَا مُسَدَّدٌ، وَفُضَيْلُ بْنُ عَبْدِ الْوَهَّابِ السُّكَّرِيُّ، قَالاَ حَدَّثَنَا حَمَّادٌ، عَنْ كَثِيرِ بْنِ شِنْظِيرٍ، عَنْ عَطَاءٍ، عَنْ جَابِرِ بْنِ عَبْدِ اللَّهِ، رَفَعَهُ قَالَ ‏"‏

وَاكْفِتُوا صِبْيَانَكُمْ عِنْدَ الْعِشَاءِ ‏"

Jabir b.Abd Allah reported the Prophet (ﷺ) as saying:

Gather your children when darkness spreads, or in the evening (according to Musaddad), for the jinn are abroad and seize them.

Reported by Abu Dawud (No. 3733), Al-Bukhari (No. 3316, 6295), At-Tirmidhi (No. 2857) and Ahmad (No. 14634).

Al-Azimabadi — Awn al-Ma'bud

( السُّكَّرِيّ ) : بِضَمِّ السِّين وَبَعْدَهَا كَاف مُشَدَّدَة مَنْسُوب إِلَى بَيْع السُّكَّر وَاَللَّه أَعْلَمُ ( عَنْ كَثِير بْن شِنْظِير ) : بِكَسْرِ الْمُعْجَمَتَيْنِ بَيْنَهُمَا نُون سَاكِنَة صَدُوق يُخْطِئ ( رَفَعَهُ ) : أَيْ رَفَعَ الْحَدِيث ( أَكْفِئُوا ) : بِهَمْزِ وَصْل وَكَسْر فَاء وَضَمّ فَوْقِيَّة أَيْ ضُمُّوا صِبْيَانكُمْ إِلَيْكُمْ وَأَدْخِلُوهُمْ الْبُيُوتَ وَامْنَعُوهُمْ عَنْ الِانْتِشَار ( عِنْد الْعِشَاء ) بِكَسْرِ الْعَيْن أَيْ أَوَّل ظَلَام اللَّيْل ( وَقَالَ مُسَدَّد ) أَيْ فِي رِوَايَته ( عِنْد الْمَسَاء ) : أَيْ مَكَان عِنْد الْعِشَاء ( فَإِنَّ لِلْجِنِّ اِنْتِشَارًا وَخَطْفَة ) : بِفَتْحٍ فَسُكُونٍ أَيْ سَلْبًا سَرِيعًا. قَالَ الْمُنْذِرِيُّ : وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ حَدِيث…

Allah's Messenger (ﷺ) said, "(At bedtime) cover the utensils, close the doors, and put out the lights, lest the evil creature (the rat) should pull away the wick and thus burn the people of the house."

خَمِّرُوا الآنِيَةَ وَأَجِيفُوا الأَبْوَابَ، وَأَطْفِئُوا الْمَصَابِيحَ، فَإِنَّ الْفُوَيْسِقَةَ رُبَّمَا جَرَّتِ الْفَتِيلَةَ فَأَحْرَقَتْ أَهْلَ الْبَيْتِ ‏"

that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) said: "Cover the vessels, tie the water-skins, close the doors, extinguish the torches, for indeed the mischief-makers (vermin) may drag away the wick, causing a fire for the inhabitants of the house."

لاَ تُرْسِلُوا فَوَاشِيَكُمْ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ فَإِنَّ الشَّيَاطِينَ تَعِيثُ إِذَا غَابَتِ الشَّمْسُ حَتَّى تَذْهَبَ فَحْمَةُ الْعِشَاءِ ‏"
