Aid al-kabir (the greater aid) also called Eid al-Adha is one of the two most important Islamic festivals, Eid al-Adha begins on the 10th day of Dhu'l-Hijja, the last month of the Islamic calendar. Lasting for three days, it occurs at the conclusion of the annual Hajj, or pilgrimage to Mecca. Muslims all over the world celebrate Eid al-Adha, not simply those undertaking the hajj, which for most Muslims is a once-a-lifetime occurrence.
Eid Al-Adha commemorates Prophet Abraham's willingness to obey God when he envisioned that he was to sacrifice his son. Muslims observe this day by slaughtering an animal (usually a sheep) and then offering much of its meat in charity to poor people. The sacrifice symbolizes obedience to Allah and its distribution to others is an expression of generosity, one of the five pillars of Islam.

How many days after Ramadan is Eid al-Adha (Ileya) 2027?
Eid al-Fitr 2027 is expected on Tuesday, March 9, 2027 and Eid al-Adha on Sunday, May 16, 2027: 68 days apart (Umm al-Qura calendar; it may differ by one day depending on the sighting of the crescent).
Why does the date differ from one country to another?
Each Hijri month begins with the new crescent moon. The Prophet ﷺ said: “Fast when you see it and end the fast when you see it; if it is hidden from you, complete thirty days of Sha’ban” (Bukhari 1909, Muslim 1081). Countries do not all proceed in the same way: many wait for the crescent to be sighted on the evening of the 29th (Morocco, for example, or Nigeria, where the Sultan of Sokoto announces it), others follow Saudi Arabia’s announcement, and others use a calendar calculated in advance (Turkey, through the Diyanet). Jurists also differ on whether a sighting in one country applies to others. Hence a possible difference of one day. The dates on Assabile follow the Umm al-Qura calendar; in practice, people follow the announcement of the religious authorities in their own country: “The fast is the day you fast, the breaking of the fast is the day you break it, and the sacrifice is the day you sacrifice” (Tirmidhi 697).
On which Hijri date does Eid al-Adha fall?
Eid al-Adha falls on 10 Dhu al-Hijjah of every Hijri year. As the Hijri calendar is lunar, its Gregorian date moves about 11 days earlier each year.
