سورة طه، الآية ١١٥
وَلَقَدْ عَهِدْنَآ إِلَىٰٓ ءَادَمَ مِن قَبْلُ فَنَسِىَ وَلَمْ نَجِدْ لَهُۥ عَزْمًا ١١٥
walaqad ʿahid'nā ilā ādama min qablu fanasiya walam najid lahu ʿazman
And We had already taken a promise from Adam before, but he forgot; and We found not in him determination.863
[863] To resist temptation.

And I enjoined on Adam beforehand not to eat of the tree, and I forbade him from this and explained to him its consequences. But he forgot the instruction, ate of the tree and was unable to resist it. And I did not see in him resolve to observe what I enjoined.
We had already given a command to Adam before, but he forgot, and We found him lacking a firm resolve43.
[43] To resist the temptation of eating from the forbidden tree.
And indeed We made a covenant with Adam before, but he forgot, and We found on his part no firm will-power.
And verily We made a covenant of old with Adam, but he forgot, and We found no constancy in him.
We had already, beforehand, taken the covenant of Adam, but he forgot: and We found on his part no firm resolve.
And certainly We gave a commandment to Adam before, but he forgot; and We did not find in him any determination.
And indeed We already covenanted with Adam earlier, yet he forgot and We found in him no resolve.
وَقَاسَمَهُمَآ إِنِّى لَكُمَا لَمِنَ ٱلنَّٰصِحِينَ …
And he swore [by Allāh] to them, "Indeed, I am to you from among the sincere advisors." …
