Text of verse 38:14

إِن كُلٌّ إِلَّا كَذَّبَ ٱلرُّسُلَ فَحَقَّ عِقَابِ ۝١٤

Transliteration

in kullun illā kadhaba l-rusula faḥaqqa ʿiqābi

Translation

Each of them denied the messengers, so My penalty was justified.

Al-Mukhtasar

There is not a single one of these groups except that it denied the messengers. So Allah’s punishment was justified for them and His punishment befell them, even though it was delayed for a while.

Other translations of verse 14

Each of them rejected their messenger, therefore My punishment became inevitable.

Not one of them but belied the Messengers; therefore My Torment was justified,

Not one of them but did deny the messengers, therefor My doom was justified,

Not one (of them) but rejected the messengers, but My punishment came justly and inevitably (on them).

There was none of them but called the messengers liars, so just was My retribution.

Decidedly not one but cried lies to the Messengers, so My punishment came true.
