Tafsir of verse 77
Al-Mukhtasar
Have you, O messenger, seen the man who denies My evidences, rejects My warning and says: If I die and am resurrected, I will certainly be given a lot of wealth and children?
Have you seen the one22 who rejects Our verses and says, “I will surely be given wealth and children [if I am resurrected]?”
Notes
[22] Al-‘Ās ibn Wāi’l, a staunch enemy of Islam in Makkah, not only disbelieved in resurrection; rather, he expected that he would be given wealth and children if resurrected.
Have you seen him who disbelieved in Our Ayât (this Qur’ân and Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) and said: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children [if I will be alive (again)]."
Hast thou seen him who disbelieveth in Our revelations and saith: Assuredly I shall be given wealth and children?
Hast thou then seen the (sort of) man who rejects Our Signs, yet says: "I shall certainly be given wealth and children?"
Have you, then, seen him who disbelieves in Our communications and says: I shall certainly be given wealth and children?
So, have you seen (him) who has disbelieved in Our signs and said, "Indeed I will definitely be brought wealth and children"?
