Translation

Indeed, those who inject deviation into Our verses1394 are not concealed from Us. So, is he who is cast into the Fire better or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do whatever you will; indeed, He is Seeing of what you do.

Tafsir of verse 40

Al-Mukhtasar

Indeed, those who deviate from Allah's signs, rejecting or distorting them and turning others away from them are not hidden from us. Allah know who they are. So, is the one who will be thrown into the hellfire more privileged or the one who will come safe from the punishment on the Day of Judgement? O people! Do whatever good or bad you wish; Allah has made good and evil clear to you and He sees whatever you do from it. None of your actions are hidden from Him.

Other translations of verse 40

Those who seek to cause deviation in Our verses16 are not hidden from Us. Is one who will be cast into the Fire better or one who will come safely on the Day of Resurrection? Do whatever you wish, for He is All-Seeing of what you do.

Notes

[16] By denying them, distorting their meanings, preferring deviant interpretation, or making noise while they are recited as the pagans of Makkah used to do.

Verily, those who turn away from Our Ayât (proofs, evidence, verses, lessons, signs, revelations, etc. by attacking, distorting and denying them) are not hidden from Us. Is he who is cast into the Fire better or he who comes secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do what you will. Verily He is All-Seer of what you do (this is a severe threat to the disbelievers3).

Notes

[3] (V.41:40) See the footnote of (V.17:97).

Lo! those who distort Our revelations are not hid from Us. Is he who is hurled into the Fire better, or he who cometh secure on the Day of Resurrection? Do what ye will. Lo! He is Seer of what ye do.

Those who pervert the Truth in Our Signs are not hidden from Us. Which is better?- he that is cast into the Fire, or he that comes safe through, on the Day of Judgment? Do what ye will: verily He seeth (clearly) all that ye do.

Surely they who deviate from the right way concerning Our communications are not hidden from Us. What! is he then who is cast into the fire better, or he who comes safe on the day of resurrection? Do what you like, surely He sees what you do.

Surely (those) who blaspheme Our signs are not concealed from Us. So, is he who will be cast into the Fire more charitable, (i.e., better) or he who (really) comes up secure on the Day of the Resurrection? Do whatever you decide (on); surely He is Ever-Beholding of whatever you do.
