Tafsir of verse 14

Al-Mukhtasar

If you call your gods, they cannot hear your call, because they are inanimate objects which have no life in them nor can they hear. And if they could hear your calling them, for argument’s sake, they could not respond to you. And on the day of judgment they will disassociate themselves from your idolatry and your worshipping them, so there is nobody who can inform you, O Messenger, more truthfully than Allah.

Tafsir of the whole Surah Fatir

Other translations of verse 14

If you call upon them, they cannot hear your call, and even if they were to hear, they could not respond to you. On the Day of Resurrection they will disown your associating them as partners with Allah5. And none can inform you like the All-Aware.

Notes

[5] Or your worship of them.

If you invoke (or call upon) them, they hear not your call; and if (in case) they were to hear, they could not grant it (your request) to you. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will disown your worshipping them. And none can inform you (O Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم) like Him Who is the All-Knower (of everything).1

Notes

[1] (V.35:14) See the footnote of (V.2:165).

If ye pray unto them they hear not your prayer, and if they heard they could not grant it you. On the Day of Resurrection they will disown association with you. None can inform you like Him Who is Aware.

If ye invoke them, they will not listen to your call, and if they were to listen, they cannot answer your (prayer). On the Day of Judgment they will reject your "Partnership". and none, (O man!) can tell thee (the Truth) like the One Who is acquainted with all things.

If you call on them they shall not hear your call, and even if they could hear they shall not answer you; and on the resurrection day they will deny your associating them (with Allah); and none can inform you like the One Who is Aware.

In case you invoke them, they will not hear your invocation; and if they heard, in no way would they respond to you. And on the Day of the Resurrection they will disown (Literally: disbelieve) your associating them (with Allah). And none can fully inform you like One Who is Ever-Cognizant.
