Tafsir of verse 65
Al-Mukhtasar
Then, groups of the Christians disagreed in regards to Jesus. Some of them say, “He is a god”, and some say, “He is the son of God”, and others say, “He and his mother are both gods”, so woe be to those who oppress themselves by attributing godhood to Jesus, or sonship, or saying that he is one of the Trinity! Woe be to them from a painful punishment that awaits them on the Day of Judgement.
But the factions differed among themselves [about Jesus]; so woe to the wrongdoers from the punishment of a painful Day!
But the sects from among themselves differed. So woe to those who do wrong [by ascribing things to ‘Îsâ (Jesus) that are not true] from the torment of a painful Day (i.e. the Day of Resurrection)!
But the factions among them differed. Then woe unto those who do wrong from the doom of a painful day.
But sects from among themselves fell into disagreement: then woe to the wrong-doers, from the Penalty of a Grievous Day!
But parties from among them differed, so woe to those who were unjust because of the chastisement of a painful day.
Yet the (allied) parties differed among themselves; so woe to the ones who did injustice from the torment of a painful Day.
