سورة الزخرف، الآية ٥٠
فَلَمَّا كَشَفْنَا عَنْهُمُ ٱلْعَذَابَ إِذَا هُمْ يَنكُثُونَ ٥٠
falammā kashafnā ʿanhumu l-ʿadhāba idhā hum yankuthūna
But when We removed from them the affliction, at once they broke their word.

Then, when I removed the punishment from them, they began breaking their covenant and not fulfilling it.
But as soon We removed the punishment from them, they broke their promise.
But when We removed the torment from them, behold, they broke their covenant (that they will believe if We remove the torment from them).
But when We eased them of the torment, behold! they broke their word.
But when We removed the Penalty from them, behold, they broke their word.
But when We removed from them the chastisement, lo! they broke the pledge.
Yet, as soon as We lifted off them the torment, only then did they breach (their promise).
فَأَرْسَلْنَا عَلَيْهِمُ ٱلطُّوفَانَ وَٱلْجَرَادَ وَٱلْقُمَّلَ وَٱلضَّفَادِعَ وَٱلدَّمَ ءَايَٰتٍ مُّفَصَّلَٰتٍ فَٱسْتَكْبَرُوا۟ وَكَانُوا۟ قَوْمًا مُّجْرِمِينَ …
So We sent upon them the flood and locusts and lice and frogs and blood as distinct signs, but they were arrogant and were a criminal people. …
