Tafsir of verse 5
Al-Mukhtasar
I will not leave out the revelation of the Qur’ān to you and calling you to monotheism because you are engrossed in ascribing partners to Allah and violating His prohibitions. I will not do so, as mercy for you demands otherwise.
Should We then turn the Reminder3 away from you simply because you are a transgressing people?
Notes
[3] i.e., the Qur’an.
Shall We then (warn you not and) take away the Reminder (this Qur’ân) from you, because you are a people Musrifûn.1
Notes
[1] (V.43:5) Musrifûn: Those who transgress the limits, as sinners, polytheists, pagans, idolaters and disbelievers in the Oneness of Allâh and in His Messenger Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم.
Shall We utterly ignore you because ye are a wanton folk?
Shall We then take away the Message from you and repel (you), for that ye are a people transgressing beyond bounds?
What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people?
Shall We then strike away the Remembrance (i.e., take away the Qur'an from you) from you, pardoning, for that you are an extravagant people?
