سورة النجم، الآية ١٦
إِذْ يَغْشَى ٱلسِّدْرَةَ مَا يَغْشَىٰ ١٦
idh yaghshā l-sid'rata mā yaghshā
When there covered the Lote Tree that which covered [it].1568
[1568] Then and there he (ﷺ) saw Gabriel in angelic form.

When the lote tree was covered through the command of Allah by something great whose true nature only Allah knows.
when the Lote Tree was overwhelmed with [divine] splendors.
When that covered the lote-tree which did cover it!2
[2] (V.53:16) It is said that the Lot-Tree was covered with the light of Allah along with the angels and also with different kinds of colours. (Please see T. Ibn Kathîr).
When that which shroudeth did enshroud the lote-tree,
Behold, the Lote-tree was shrouded (in mystery unspeakable!)
When that which covers covered the lote-tree;
As that which envelops did envelop the Lote-Tree.

لَمَّا أُسْرِيَ بِرَسُولِ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم انْتُهِيَ بِهِ إِلَى سِدْرَةِ الْمُنْتَهَى وَهِيَ فِي السَّمَاءِ السَّادِسَةِ وَإِلَيْهَا يَنْتَهِي مَا عُرِجَ بِهِ مِنْ تَحْتِهَا وَإِلَيْهَا يَنْتَهِي مَا أُهْبِطَ…
