Tafsir of verse 108
Al-Mukhtasar
Those described as being apostates after having faith are the ones whose hearts Allah has sealed, so they do not understand the admonition, He has sealed their hearing, so that they do not hear anything that benefits them, and He has sealed their sight, so that they do not see the signs indicating faith. It is they who are unaware of the causes of happiness and wretchedness and of the punishment that Allah has prepared for them.
These are the ones whose hearts, hearing and sight are sealed up by Allah68; it is they who are the heedless.
Notes
[68] Because they did not use their faculties of perception to seek guidance.
They are those upon whose hearts, hearing (ears) and sight (eyes) Allâh has set a seal. And they are the heedless!
Such are they whose hearts and ears and eyes Allah hath sealed. And such are the heedless.
Those are they whose hearts, ears, and eyes Allah has sealed up, and they take no heed.
These are they on whose hearts and their hearing and their eyes Allah has set a seal, and these are the heedless ones.
Those are they upon whose hearts Allah has stamped (i.e., impressed or set seal) and on their hearing and their be holdings; and those are the ones who are heedless.
And among them, [O Muḥammad], are those who listen to you, until when they depart from you, they say to those who were given knowledge, "What has he said just now?" Those are the ones of whom Allāh has sealed over their hearts and who have followed their [own] desires.
