Tafsir of verse 100
Al-Mukhtasar
He only has authority by means of His whispering over those who take him as an ally and follow him in his luring and those who because of such luring associate partners with Allah whom they worship along with Him.
He only has power over those who take him as their patron64, and who - under his influence - associate partners with Allah.
Notes
[64] Who follow him and obey his commands.
His power is only over those who obey and follow him (Satan), and those who join partners with Him (Allâh i.e. those who are Mushrikûn i.e. polytheists. See Verse 6:121).
His power is only over those who make a friend of him, and those who ascribe partners unto Him (Allah).
His authority is over those only, who take him as patron and who join partners with Allah.
His authority is only over those who befriend him and those who associate others with Him.
Surely his all-binding authority is only over the ones who take him for patron and the ones who take him as associate (with Allah).
