Tafsir of verse 83
Al-Mukhtasar
That is the abode of the afterlife which I shall make an abode of pleasure and honour for those who do not seek to be arrogant on earth by turning away from faith in the truth and its followers, nor do they want corruption in it. And the praiseworthy outcome, in the form of the enjoyment of paradise and the pleasure of Allah therein, is for those who are mindful of their Lord by carrying out His commands and refraining from His prohibitions.
That is the abode of the Hereafter We will assign to those who neither seek superiority nor corruption on earth. The best outcome is for those who fear Allah.
That home of the Hereafter (i.e. Paradise), We shall assign to those who rebel not against the truth with pride6 and oppression in the land nor do mischief by committing crimes. And the good end is for the Muttaqûn (the pious - See V.2:2).
Notes
[6] (V.28:83) See the footnote of (V.22:9)
As for that Abode of the Hereafter We assign it unto those who seek not oppression in the earth, nor yet corruption. The sequel is for those who ward off (evil).
That Home of the Hereafter We shall give to those who intend not high-handedness or mischief on earth: and the end is (best) for the righteous.
(As for) that future abode, We assign it to those who have no desire to exalt themselves in the earth nor to make mischief and the good end is for those who guard (against evil)
That is the Last Home. We make it for the ones who would not like exaltation in the earth nor corruption, and the (fortunate) End is for the pious.
And whoever comes with an evil deed - their faces will be overturned into the Fire, [and it will be said], "Are you recompensed except for what you used to do?"
