سورة المؤمنون، الآية ٨٢
قَالُوٓا۟ أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ ٨٢
qālū a-idhā mit'nā wakunnā turāban waʿiẓāman a-innā lamabʿūthūna
They said, "When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
Verse 82 of Surah Al-Mu’minun (23:82), a Meccan surah, is in juz 18, on page 347 of the mushaf. Read it in Arabic with its transliteration, translations and tafsir, and listen to it recited by 73 reciters.

They said, unbelievingly and denyingly: “When we die and turn into dust and decomposed bones, will we be raised alive to be reckoned?
They say, “Is it that when we die and become dust and bones, will we really be resurrected38?
[38] The One Who created the earth and everything on it from nothing, it is easy for Him to re-create them once again.
They said: "When we are dead and have become dust and bones, shall we be resurrected indeed?
They say: When we are dead and have become (mere) dust and bones, shall we then, forsooth, be raised again?
They say: "What! when we die and become dust and bones, could we really be raised up again?
They say: What! When we are dead and become dust and bones, shall we then be raised?
They said, "When we die and are dust and bones, will we indeed be made to rise up again?
أَءِذَا كُنَّا عِظَٰمًا نَّخِرَةً …
Even if we should be decayed bones?" …
أَوَلَمْ يَرَ ٱلْإِنسَٰنُ أَنَّا خَلَقْنَٰهُ مِن نُّطْفَةٍ فَإِذَا هُوَ خَصِيمٌ مُّبِينٌ …
Does man not consider that We created him from a [mere] sperm-drop - then at once he is a clear adversary? …
They share a sequence of words with this verse: useful for telling them apart when memorising.
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
When we have died and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَدِينُونَ
That when we have died and become dust and bones, we will indeed be recompensed?'"
وَكَانُوا۟ يَقُولُونَ أَئِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا وَعِظَٰمًا أَءِنَّا لَمَبْعُوثُونَ
And they used to say, "When we die and become dust and bones, are we indeed to be resurrected?
أَءِذَا مِتْنَا وَكُنَّا تُرَابًا ذَٰلِكَ رَجْعٌۢ بَعِيدٌ
When we have died and have become dust, [we will return to life]? That is a distant [i.e., unlikely] return."
