سورة المدثر، الآية ٦
وَلَا تَمْنُن تَسْتَكْثِرُ ٦
walā tamnun tastakthiru
And do not confer favor to acquire more1790
[1790] An alternative meaning is "Do not consider any favor you have conferred to be great."

Do not think that you have done a favour to your Lord by regarding your righteous actions to be plenty.
and do not do a favor for a greater return3,

And give not a thing in order to have more (or consider not your deeds of obedience to Allâh as a favour to Him).
And show not favour, seeking wordly gain!
Nor expect, in giving, any increase (for thyself)!
And bestow not favors that you may receive again with increase,
And be not bountiful, (hoping) to gain more,
