Tafsir of verse 2
Al-Mukhtasar
On the Day of Judgement, when things become clear to them, the disbelievers will wish they were Muslim. The falsity of their ways in the world will be made clear to them.
The disbelievers will soon2 wish that they were Muslims.
Notes
[2] On the Judgment Day or upon their death.
How much would those who disbelieved wish that they had been Muslims [those who have submitted themselves to Allâh’s Will in Islâm i.e. Islâmic Monotheism - this will be on the Day of Resurrection when they will see the disbelievers going to Hell and the Muslims going to Paradise].1
Notes
[1] (V.15:2): See the footnote of (V.3:85).
It may be that those who disbelieve wish ardently that they were Muslims.
Again and again will those who disbelieve, wish that they had bowed (to Allah's will) in Islam.
Often will those who disbelieve wish that they had been Muslims.
(Probably) the ones who have disbelieved would often rather like that if they were Muslims.
If you could but see when they are made to stand before the Fire and will say, "Oh, would that we could be returned [to life on earth] and not deny the signs of our Lord and be among the believers."
