so that Allah may forgive you your previous and future sins2, complete His favor upon you, and guide you to a straight path,

Notes

[2] i.e., sins before this conquest and sins after it. See footnote 40:55, 47:19.

That Allâh may forgive you your sins of the past and the future,1 and complete His Favour on you, and guide you on the Straight Path,

Notes

[1] (V.48:2) Narrated Al-Mughîrah: The Prophet صلى الله عليه وسلم used to offer night prayers till his feet became swollen. Somebody said to him, "Allah has forgiven you your sins of the past and the future." On that, He said, " Shouldn‘t I be a thankful slave of Allah?" (Sahih Al-Bukhari, Vol.6, Hadîth No.360).

That Allah may forgive thee of thy sin that which is past and that which is to come, and may perfect His favour unto thee, and may guide thee on a right path,

That Allah may forgive thee thy faults of the past and those to follow; fulfil His favour tothee; and guide thee on the Straight Way;

That Allah may forgive your community their past faults and those to follow and complete His favor to you and keep you on a right way,

That Allah may forgive you your guilty (deeds)-whatever of them has gone forward and whatever is postponed-and perfect His favor upon you, and guide you (The Prophet) on a straight Path,
