وَتِين
Girl Arabic origin Watīn
In the Quran“The aorta”, the main artery of the heart; figuratively, the vital bond
The word as it is recited in the Quran: Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, Al-Haqqah 69:46.
The word occurs only once in the Quran, in a verse of warning: had the Prophet invented sayings against Allah, “We would have cut his aorta” (69:46). The name thus comes from a Quranic word, but not from a context of praise: worth knowing before choosing it.
Watin is, in the classical dictionaries, the artery of the heart “whose severing causes death” (Lisan al-ʿArab): the aorta. The root w-t-n expresses what is constant and firmly set. Fashionable in the Gulf, the name is understood as “she who is as vital as the heart”.
Yes: the word Watin appears in the Quran once, in one surah.
ثُمَّ لَقَطَعْنَا مِنْهُ ٱلْوَتِينَ ٤٦
Then We would have cut from him the aorta.
