Thabit in Islam
Thabit ibn Qays ibn Shammas was the orator of the Ansar. When the verse “Do not raise your voices above the voice of the Prophet” (49:2) was revealed, he, who spoke loudly, thought himself lost and stayed at home; the Prophet ﷺ sent word to reassure him: “Rather, he is one of the people of Paradise” (Muslim 119). He died a martyr at the Battle of al-Yamama.
