سَلْسَبِيل
Girl Arabic origin Salsabīl
In the QuranName of a spring of Paradise; “sweet water that flows easily”
The word as it is recited in the Quran: Mahmoud Khalil Al-Hussary, Al-Insan 76:18.
The word occurs once in the Quran, in the description of Paradise: the blessed are given a cup mixed with ginger, “from a spring there called Salsabil” (76:17-18).
Salsabil is the name of a spring of Paradise. Lexicographers explain it as sweet, light water, so pleasant that it flows easily down the throat (from salsal, “to flow gently”). Some commentators read in it the phrase sal sabilan, “ask for a way [to it]”; others rejected this. A feminine name common in the Maghreb, South Asia and Turkey (Selsebil).
Yes: Salsabil is named in the Quran once, in one surah.
