Meaning of the name Atika
ʿAtika is an old Arabic name. Ibn Manzur explains that a woman who is ʿatika is one whom perfume has tinged red, so much does she steep herself in it; others explain the name by purity or nobility, since al-ʿatik is said of what is pure and unmixed. The word was also used of a bow that had turned red with age. Common among Quraysh and the Banu Sulaym, this name was borne by several female ancestors of the Prophet ﷺ.
