The Prophet ﷺ said: “The most beloved of your names to Allah are ʿAbd Allah and ʿAbd al-Rahman” (Muslim 2132), and scholars add to them all names formed on a name of Allah. The name al-Majid occurs 2 times in the Quran; its page in the 99 Names section gives its meaning and verses.
ʿAbd al-Majid joins ʿabd with al-Majid, from the root m-j-d of glory and generous nobility: the One whose glory is perfect and whose kindness is vast. The prayer on the Prophet recited in every salat ends with “You are Praiseworthy, Glorious” (hamidun majid). It is written Abdelmajid in the Maghreb and Abdülmecit in Turkey.
They said, "Are you amazed at the decree of Allāh? May the mercy of Allāh and His blessings be upon you, people of the house. Indeed, He is Praiseworthy and Honorable."
