Biography of Mouad El Kholti

Mouad El Kholti, a model of the diligent and gifted reciter

His moving voice captivates the ear and stirs the heart; his delivery is precise, his articulation of the letters excellent, and his style of recitation and tartil recalls that of the reciter Ali Jaber, may Allah have mercy on him. He has led the prayer in many mosques across Morocco, particularly for the Tarawih prayer during Ramadan. With a distinguished religious and academic background, he has taken part in a wide range of national and international religious gatherings. This is the Quran reciter Mouad El Kholti, who was born in 1985 in Brussels, the Belgian capital.

After returning to Morocco, Mouad El Kholti devoted himself to the Quran and its rules, and managed to learn it in full at the age of only thirteen. Alongside this, he pursued his schooling at several public schools and successfully completed each stage. Beyond that, he was determined to complete the final stage of his education while combining it with a remarkable path in Quranic studies and preaching. Today he is a doctoral student and, at the same time, an imam, Friday preacher and teacher at Al-Safa Mosque in the Moroccan city of Beni Mellal.

While pursuing his higher education and serving as an imam, Mouad El Kholti has been, and remains, an active and outstanding participant in national and international competitions and events. He won first place in the Algeria International Prize for the Memorization and Recitation of the Quran in 2007, the Mohammed VI International Prize for Memorization, Tajweed and Tafsir in 2006, and the Al-Azhar International Competition in 2000. He also placed fourth in the Dubai International Competition for the Memorization and Tajweed of the Quran in 2004, and second in the Makkah International Competition for Memorization and Tajweed in 1999.

Thanks to his skills and talents, several media outlets invite him to take part in their programs, especially the Mohammed VI Holy Quran Channel, where he appears as a guest to contribute to religious lessons and to recite passages of the Wise Reminder in his own voice. In 2013, he was chosen to record “Al-Mushaf Al-Muhammadi,” which is presented every year to the Moroccan King on the occasion of the Hassani Ramadan Lectures. He has recorded recitations in the riwaya of Warsh from Nafi’.
