Narrator:Anas ibn Mālik

حَدَّثَنَا قُتَيْبَةُ، حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ، عَنْ أَبِي عِمْرَانَ الْجَوْنِيِّ، عَنْ أَنَسِ بْنِ مَالِكٍ، قَالَ

وَقَّتَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي قَصِّ الشَّارِبِ وَتَقْلِيمِ الأَظْفَارِ وَحَلْقِ الْعَانَةِ وَنَتْفِ الإِبْطِ أَنْ لاَ نَتْرُكَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا ‏.‏

Narrated Anas bin Malik:

"[The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ)] fixed the time for us paring the mustache, trimming the fingernails, shaving the pubic hairs and plucking the underarm hairs - that we not leave it for more than forty days."

Al-Mubarakfuri — Tuhfat al-Ahwadhi

قَوْلُهُ : ( حَدَّثَنَا جَعْفَرُ بْنُ سُلَيْمَانَ ) هُوَ الضُّبَعِيُّ. قَوْلُهُ : ( وُقِّتَ لَنَا ) بِصِيغَةِ الْمَجْهُولِ مِنْ التَّوْقِيتِ , قَالَ النَّوَوِيُّ : هُوَ مِنْ الْأَحَادِيثِ الْمَرْفُوعَةِ مِثْلُ قَوْلِهِ أُمِرْنَا بِكَذَا وَقَدْ تَقَدَّمَ بَيَانُ هَذَا فِي الْفُصُولِ الْمَذْكُورَةِ فِي أَوَّلِ الْكِتَابِ اِنْتَهَى. وَقَدْ صَرَّحَ فِي الرِّوَايَةِ الْمُتَقَدِّمَةِ مِنْ حَدِيثِ الْبَابِ بِأَنَّ الْمُؤَقَّتَ هُوَ النَّبِيُّ صَلَّى اللَّهُ عَلَيْهِ وَسَلَّمَ ( أَنْ لَا نَتْرُكَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا ) قَالَ النَّوَوِيُّ : مَعْنَاهُ لَا نَتْرُكُ تَرْكًا نَتَجَاوَزُ بِهِ أَرْبَعِينَ , لَا أَنَّهُ وَقَّتَ لَهُمْ التَّرْكَ أَرْبَعِينَ. قَالَ الْمُخْتَارُ أَنَّهُ يُضْبَطُ ب…

Authentic Sunan an-Nasa'i 14

"A time limit was set for us, by the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ), regarding trimming the mustache, clipping the nails and plucking the pubes; we were not to leave that for more than forty days," on one occasion he said: "Forty nights."

وَقَّتَ لَنَا رَسُولُ اللَّهِ صلى الله عليه وسلم فِي قَصِّ الشَّارِبِ وَتَقْلِيمِ الأَظْفَارِ وَحَلْقِ الْعَانَةِ وَنَتْفِ الإِبْطِ أَنْ لاَ نَتْرُكَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ يَوْمًا ‏

Authentic Sunan Ibn Majah 295

"We were given a time limit with regard to trimming the mustache, shaving the pubic hairs, plucking the armpit hairs and clipping the nails. We were not to leave that for more than forty days."

وُقِّتَ لَنَا فِي قَصِّ الشَّارِبِ وَحَلْقِ الْعَانَةِ وَنَتْفِ الإِبْطِ وَتَقْلِيمِ الأَظْفَارِ أَنْ لاَ نَتْرُكَ أَكْثَرَ مِنْ أَرْبَعِينَ لَيْلَةً ‏.‏

Anas said they were told not to let more than forty days elapse between the times they clipped the moustache, pared the nails, plucked out hairs under the armipits and shaved the pubes. Muslim transmitted it.

Sulaiman transmitted it from Abu 'Imran on the authority of Anas. In this version he did not mention the Prophet (ﷺ). He said…
